Recycle Jar Ecosystem Limited (RJE) is proud to be the pioneer and the largest carbon project developer in Bangladesh, leading the charge in sustainable environmental transformation. Our organization is at the forefront of the fight against climate change, working tirelessly to build a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
At RJE, we develop, manage, and implement carbon reduction projects across a wide range of sectors — from renewable energy and waste management to reforestation and sustainable agriculture. By partnering with local communities, government bodies, and international stakeholders, we ensure that every project delivers measurable environmental impact while fostering economic growth and social development.
Our mission is clear: to catalyze transformative climate action in Bangladesh by creating scalable, innovative solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental stewardship. As the nation's trailblazer in carbon project development, RJE continues to set new benchmarks for climate innovation and sustainability leadership.
Recycle Jar Ecosystem Limited (RJE) is currently implementing several impactful carbon credit projects under the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), spanning diverse environmental categories and extensive geographical areas across Bangladesh.
RJE is executing two major projects under the ARR category:
The first project covers eight districts and 58 upazilas within the Rangpur Division.
The second project spans eight districts and 58 upazilas across the Khulna and Barisal Divisions.
These projects aim to restore degraded lands, increase forest cover, and enhance biodiversity,
contributing significantly to long-term climate resilience.
In the methane capture category, RJE is implementing a large-scale project designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from livestock and agricultural sources. This project extends across 12 districts and 91 upazilas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna Divisions, marking a significant step toward climate-smart waste and resource management.
RJE is also undertaking a comprehensive mangrove afforestation initiative across Bangladesh’s vulnerable coastal regions. This project encompasses the coastline and islands of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Patuakhali, Barguna, and Bhola districts. By restoring and expanding mangrove forests, this initiative enhances coastal protection, supports marine biodiversity, and captures significant volumes of carbon dioxide. Together, these projects reflect RJE’s commitment to creating scalable, science-based climate solutions that benefit both people and the planet.
Carbon Credit Projects under Article 6 Collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh
Recycle Jar Ecosystem Limited (RJE) is actively collaborating with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) to develop six groundbreaking carbon credit projects under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which facilitates international cooperation in climate action through carbon markets. These initiatives aim to generate high-integrity carbon credits while contributing to the country’s sustainable development goals.
Each of these projects is aligned with Bangladesh’s climate priorities and the global push for net- zero emissions. The key thematic areas include:
This project focuses on developing efficient, low-emission wastewater treatment systems to significantly reduce methane and other harmful greenhouse gas emissions. It aims to modernize wastewater infrastructure across urban and rural areas while improving sanitation and public health.
Traditional brick kilns are among the largest industrial sources of air pollution in Bangladesh. This project promotes the adoption of cleaner, energy-efficient brick production technologies—such as zigzag kilns and alternative materials—to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality.
This pioneering initiative focuses on harnessing the carbon sequestration potential of coastal and marine ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrasses, and tidal marshes. It aims to position Bangladesh as a regional leader in blue carbon development, contributing to both climate mitigation and coastal resilience.
RJE is working with local communities to integrate trees into agricultural landscapes, enhancing carbon storage, improving soil health, and creating alternative livelihoods. This initiative emphasizes participatory planning, biodiversity conservation, and rural empowerment.
This project encourages the adoption of climate-smart farming practices—such as conservation tillage, organic farming, and integrated nutrient management—to reduce emissions, improve productivity, and restore soil carbon stocks.
This initiative aims to establish circular waste management systems, promoting recycling, composting, and methane capture from landfills. By reducing the climate impact of waste, the project will generate verified carbon credits while fostering cleaner, more livable cities.
These projects reflect RJE’s commitment to transformative climate solutions that align with Bangladesh’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and deliver both environmental and socio-economic co-benefits under the global climate framework.
